Welcome to Human Chronicles — a magazine built on the belief that every person carries stories worth preserving. Before you subscribe, please take a few minutes to read these Terms of Service. We’ve written them in plain English (with the occasional editorial flourish) so you know exactly what you’re agreeing to. If something here doesn’t sit right with you, please don’t hesitate to contact us before subscribing.
By purchasing a subscription or single issue, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms.
1. Who We Are
Human Chronicles is a quarterly print-and-digital magazine published by SITOSO Digital Publishing, based in Ontario, Canada. References to “we,” “us,” or “our” throughout these Terms refer to SITOSO Digital Publishing. References to “you” or “subscriber” refer to the person purchasing access to our publication.

2. Jurisdiction and Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. If you’ve found your way here from another part of the world — welcome! — but please note that Ontario law governs our relationship, and any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario.
For our international digital subscribers, this means that while you’re free to enjoy Human Chronicles wherever life takes you, the legal stuff stays firmly planted in Canada.
3. What We Offer
3a. Print Subscriptions (Canada Only)
Print subscriptions are available to readers with a valid Canadian mailing address. Each quarterly issue is mailed directly to your door via Canada Post. Print subscribers also receive digital access to the same issue.
3b. Digital Subscriptions (Worldwide)
Digital subscriptions are available globally. Subscribers receive access to each issue in digital format (FlipBook and/or responsive edition) via their registered account on humanchronicles.ca.
3c. Combined Print + Digital (Canada Only)
Canadian subscribers may choose a combined tier that includes both print delivery and digital access.
3d. Current Pricing
Pricing at the time of publication of these Terms:
Digital – Single Issue: $20 CAD
Digital – Annual Subscription: $65 CAD/year
Print – Single Issue: $25 CAD (includes shipping within Canada)
Print – Annual Subscription: $85 CAD/year (includes shipping within Canada)
Prices are listed in Canadian dollars and are subject to applicable taxes. We reserve the right to adjust pricing for new subscriptions with reasonable advance notice.
4. Subscriptions and Auto-Renewal
Annual subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each subscription year. This keeps the stories flowing to your inbox (or mailbox) without interruption — which is how we’d all prefer it.
Here’s how it works:
Your subscription will automatically renew at the then-current annual rate unless you cancel before the renewal date.
You will receive a renewal reminder by email at least 14 days before your renewal date.
Payment for renewal will be charged to your payment method on file through Stripe, our payment processor.
To cancel auto-renewal, log in to your account at humanchronicles.ca or contact us at hello@humanchronicles.ca before your renewal date.
Cancellations take effect at the end of your current subscription period. You will retain access to your subscription until that date.
5. Refund and Cancellation Policy
5a. Digital Issues and Subscriptions
Because digital issues are delivered immediately upon purchase and can be accessed the moment your payment is confirmed, we do not offer refunds on digital purchases. This is standard practice in digital publishing — once you’ve read the opening story, we can’t un-read it for you.
If you cancel an annual digital subscription, you will not receive a prorated refund for the remaining term, but you will retain access to your digital issues until your subscription period ends.
5b. Print Subscriptions
For print subscriptions, refunds may be considered in the following circumstances:
An issue was never delivered due to a postal error or our fulfillment mistake (not an incorrect address provided by the subscriber).
An issue arrived significantly damaged.
Refund requests for print issues must be submitted within 30 days of the expected delivery date. We will investigate with Canada Post and, where appropriate, re-ship the issue or offer a credit toward a future issue.
We do not offer cash refunds for change-of-mind cancellations on print subscriptions already fulfilled.
6. Print Delivery
Print issues are shipped within Canada using Canada Post Publications Mail. Delivery times vary by region, but typically range from 3 to 10 business days after the mailing date.
A few things to keep in mind:
It is your responsibility to ensure your mailing address on file is accurate and complete. We cannot reship issues lost due to an incorrect address without a reshipment fee.
Canada Post delays (including strikes, service disruptions, or holiday backlogs) are outside our control. We’ll communicate any known delays by email.
International print subscriptions are not available at this time. Our magazines prefer the maple leaf-scented air of Canadian postal routes.
7. Digital Access
Upon subscribing or purchasing a digital issue, you will receive access through your registered account on humanchronicles.ca. Digital access is personal and non-transferable.
You may access your digital issues on any device connected to the internet using your account credentials.
You may not share your login credentials or provide access to others.
Digital content is provided for personal, non-commercial reading only.
Downloading, reproducing, redistributing, or reselling any part of the digital magazine without our written permission is prohibited.
8. Intellectual Property
Everything in Human Chronicles — the stories, essays, photographs, design, layout, and the magazine’s visual identity — is the intellectual property of SITOSO Digital Publishing and/or its contributing authors and photographers, and is protected by Canadian copyright law and applicable international treaties.
Your subscription gives you a personal, non-exclusive licence to read and enjoy the content. It does not give you the right to copy, share, publish, print for distribution, or use the content for commercial purposes without our written consent.
If you’d like to share a story or excerpt for educational or community purposes, we’d love to hear from you first. Good stories deserve to be shared with care.
9. Account Responsibilities
To subscribe, you’ll need to create an account on humanchronicles.ca. You are responsible for:
- Keeping your login credentials secure and confidential.
- Ensuring the contact and payment information in your account is accurate and up to date.
- Notifying us promptly if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.
- We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that are used in violation of these Terms.
10. Payment Processing
All payments are processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your credit card or banking details on our servers — that’s Stripe’s domain, and they’re rather good at it.
By providing payment information, you authorize us to charge the applicable fees for your chosen subscription or purchase. All transactions are in Canadian dollars.

11. Privacy
We take your privacy seriously. The personal information you provide — including your name, email address, mailing address (for print subscribers), and payment information — is collected solely for the purpose of fulfilling your subscription and communicating with you about Human Chronicles.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Human Chronicles operates in compliance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where applicable, provincial privacy legislation.
12. Limitation of Liability
While we pour genuine care into every issue of Human Chronicles, we must be upfront: to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, SITOSO Digital Publishing shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of (or inability to use) our publication or website.
Our total liability to you in connection with any subscription or purchase shall not exceed the amount you paid us for that subscription or issue.
This does not affect any rights you may have under applicable Canadian consumer protection legislation.
13. Changes to These Terms
Stories evolve, and so do Terms of Service. We reserve the right to update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we’ll post the revised version on our website and update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page.
For material changes, we will notify current subscribers by email at least 14 days before the new Terms take effect. Continued use of your subscription after that date constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
If you disagree with any changes, you may cancel your subscription before the effective date.
